BEAT celebrates
its
4th anniversary
The area currently covered by BEAT is outlined on the map above, including the villages of Billingshurst, Five Oaks, Slinfold, Broadbridge Heath, Barns Green, Christ’s Hospital, Wisborough Green, Kirdford, Loxwood, Ifold, Plaistow, Adversane, Codmore Hill and Coolham.
N.B. Cover is always subject to availability of responders
and proximity of the emergency ambulance.

Billingshurst has no ambulance station which means that any 999 caller must wait for a vehicle to travel from the nearest location. At the present time ambulance crews are stationed at Horsham to the north, and Pulborough to the south - a distance of some 6 or 7 miles in both cases.
If these crews are already attending a previous emergency call then the wait time can increase significantly and it is not unusual for vehicles to travel up from the south coast or from Crawley, Midhurst or Haywards Heath.
Most of the team’s active Responders are based in Billinghurst itself but we are also fortunate to have active members who are based in the surrounding villages and hamlets, for example Wisborough Green, Barns Green and Plaistow. This is particularly valuable as it gives the team good coverage of a wide area and the local knowledge of individual Responders can be of great benefit to ambulance crews who may find themselves on unfamiliar roads.
